Reminds me of the backwards snobbery and stereotyping when people say, "Oh, I HATED 'O Brother Where Art Thou' because its characters had those awful Southern accents - it made them sound like such REDNECKS!"<br /><br />Hate to break it to them, but a LOT of ppl - educated and not - speak that way. It's the SOUTH. Doctors and lawyers have strong accents here. People love applying their own outdated, tired notions of what southerners are like to the people who live here. They WANT to believe that people who speak differently than they do are ignorant dolts.
